Post RS Mirrors?

Toying w/ putting RS style mirrors on, or even later ( I think '92-94 )ones that are more "streamlined" than my stock '91 "flag" style. Would anyone know if it's a straight swap?
Mine are power & would like to keep that feature.
Anyone know the cost/ or have a set available?
Seasons Greetings
Buck

Buck, they are called "Aero" mirrors, from the factory -or- "Teardrop" mirrors as they guys from the "other side of the pond" like to call them.

Yes, they are a direct swap, although there are six wires on the Aero mirrors and five on yours, you just twist two of the wires together on the Aero mirrors and WALLAH!

They go for about $300USD used and can be had from a few sources that tend to "hover" around Rennlist.

Try teutonics@juno.com - he's a guy named Ron Cumiford and he sold me my set of GP White mirrors as well as a set of yellow ones for a friend of mine.

Tell him Jeff sent ya, no affiliation, just a good deal was had, so he deserves a referral. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Jeff, thanks for the reply, perhaps you could send me a private e-mail on his location/ address,
etc. Can't seem to get him @ the adress mentioned( & don't want to get the webmeister in a tizzy over "plugs"), plus Juno seems to want me to sign -up for "their" service?? before I can get there?? Whats up w/ that?
Any way since I'm getting my new spoiler painted shortly, thought I'd look into the mirrors as well. Anyone got a set painted Guards Red already?
Thanks
Buck

Buck - there are threads galore on fitting aero or teardrop mirrors - I put together a step by step using Jeff's advice.

I bought my aero mirrors from off eBay, the vendor (I've no connection) currently has a pair for sale (he seems to advertise regularly) you could also contact him and ask whether he has any Red ones.....

Gary,

They are different. The passenger side mirrors enlarge the image, thus for a LHD car the passgener side mirror is the opposite side to RHD car.

Its 'Greg'! & thanks for the info,

Is it easy to change the glass from one to the other (ie. a couple of screws) ?

Also, would i be right in thinking that the 993 teardrop/aero mirrors would fit straight onto a 964?

thanks again,
Greg

Greg - Yes. Honestly there are lots of threads already dealing with most of the aspects of this.

The glass is real easy to fix.

Ruairidh/Guys, thanks for the info. Can you be more specic as to "the" vendor, as in does he have a real store frontor just somewere on e-bay? I didn't see any "aero/teardrops" on fist glance, I'll check again tommorrow. (send it to me directly, if it's against the rules)
Thanks
Buck

I'm currently waiting on a RUF strut brace from
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33649&item=1874259534" target="_blank">these guys</a>........and bought my aero mirrors (from a 993) for just under $300 in the correct color for my car (and with the rubber thingies that you will need) from <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6766&item=1875118004" target="_blank">this guy</a>. I've no connection - just a satisfied customer in the latter instance and hoping to be happy in the former!

Buck, don't fret, it's okay if we refer you to people that we've had good business with, most are Rennlist users.

Besides...we're already assuming you've checked the Rennlist classifieds first!

Yep!, checking the lists, doing it twice, and sometimes I'm naughty but mostly nice! ( couldn't resist being Xmas an all).
Anyway all this chatter has opened up several posibilities on the newer "mirrors". Have had several sets offered in the 275-$325 range. Two things please, I'm still not sure about the term "cup" mirrors, they look like "aero"/ "teardrops" but some refer to them as "cups",What's up? And ideally G. Red's my color & have had shades of blue/black/silver offered. Which color is better to re-paint, should I decide not to wait for G. Red?
Ruairidh, those on the closed auction (G. Red) would have been perfect!
Merry Xmas

The reason I waited and pounced was that it is easier and cheaper if you can find a set in your color. I'm not sure how much assembly/painting costs -but its not cheap. I think Joe (Joey Bagadonuts) did say how much his new mirrors cost all in (it'll be in the "teardrop" thread) and Phil Raby's article in the UK Mag also quoted a price for re-spraying in UK pounds.

Good Luck
