So it has to show 0 oil pressure before allowing the switch in the dashboard to be used, and the wire that tells the top control unit that the engine is off is #2.
So, theoretically I could pull this wire and the switch would then work without shutting down the engine? Will my oil guage still show pressure?
What about the e-brake, is that running through the controller aswell, or can I just disconnect it at the console?

Well with the DVOM and a little help from you guys, I have by-passed the controler and can finally open the top without shutting down the engine. I do however have to pull the E-brake up a click or two to activate the motors. I tried to jump the E-brake switch but I keep getting the exclamation point warning light, so, I wired it back. Any one know this secret?

This is what you need;
http://lightning.prohosting.com/~dat...op_control.htm
However it does cause the ! light to come on at start up every time. Haven't found a way round that.
Another thing is my car (UK) doesn't require the handbrake to be on, is that a US only thing?

Malcum,
Thanks for the diagram. It looks like you have come to the same successful conclusion as me. Like you, I have a problem with the E-brake and warning light.
Just wish I could get some manual latches.
Does anyone know if Targa top latches will work?

Malcum,
Thanks for the diagram. It looks like you too have had the same success as me. I also have a problem with the E-brake and the warning light.
Just wish I could get ahold of some manual latches.

Tried my top tonite with 1 click on the emergency brake and going maybe 10 mph or so and it would go up or down. Guess mine isnt tied into anything except the emergency brake switch. Still no idea how it is wired up but i like it!

The Parking brake switch is connected directly to the central informer. There is an output from the central informer to the Cab controller. On the Cab controller there are 4 X 5 pin connectors. These are marked M1,M2.M3 & K. There are three connections it could possibly be. These are
M1 pin 1, M1 pin 3, or M1 pin5 . Check each pin in turn with your meter, until you see a level change when you put the brake on and off (ignition on). This might be a link through connection, or an active output ( thats why do it with the ignition on). That should identify the right pin. I dont have time at the moment to do this, but if you still have problems I'll have a look this weekend.
Regards
Rob
P.s Why do you want to raise or lower the cab top whilst moving? i.e no parking brake on.
