High,
I lost count, but I know it was all worth it,lets see; carbon fibre/aluminum handbrake, shifter, and gauge surround, installed heat in the drivers seat, andial semi-lightweight flywheel w/a new clutch and sport chip, factory 22mm front and rear sway bars, 2 rear SO2's(17's),ummm, oh yeah a set of Bilstein shocks(already had the eibach springs,so that helped a little), a 30K mile service, and 4000 miles worth of gasoline. I think i,m finally done after 10 years of ownership, except for the gasoline expence of course.....

Purchased this car in October so $0 this year. Major service and new clutch due in Jan, plus suspension and wheels upgrade planned for next year - so projected expenditure next year must be at least £3500 or $5000. Hopefully I will need a top end rebuild soon as well - the 3.8L conversion in the UK works out at around £8500 all in...

My C4 got some upgrades this year, 2001 to the equivalent of about $US5,000. I have a service due and that will be another 1700CHF.
Failures in 2001 were limited to one water pump failure. Replacement from UK cost me 12 UK pounds plus shipping.
944 which I gave to my daughter set be back another $3,000 to get it onto the road.
Ciao,
Adrian
911C4

PS: Insurance and road taxes cost around 4600CHF per year for the 911 and 944.

My 92 C2 Coupe had about 41K miles at the beginning of the year and now has about 55K miles. I spent about $3500 on the car over this past year, and the breakdown is roughly as follows:

$1500 Routine maintenance, including replacing distributor belt
$1900 Street tires, extra set of 996 rims, track tires
$200 Mechanical failure- clutch roll pin came out, leaving me stranded. Of the $200, $120 was for a flat bed tow truck, so the whole incident was mainly an inconvenience. A buddy of mine pointed out that it was cheaper to fix the car than to maintain it.

So out of the $3500, $1700 was for maintenance and repairs, which comes out to $140 per month. Not bad for a daily driven 964.

I'm at $3850 for 2000, with the major expenses being:

-New clutch = $1210.
-Final debugging of the 993 engine installation (idle issues mainly) = $600.
-All fluids replaced, repair passenger door lock and other odds & ends at Andial = $573.00.
-Replace CV boots, repair oil leak = $308.
-Install new gas filler neck = $170.
-New right-rear tail-light assembly = $180.
-About $500 in miscellaneous trim items such as center console lights, center console spoiler switch housing (mounting tabs busted off of old one), relays/switches for the oil cooler system.

Don't want to think about the 1999-2000 numbers, which reflect the 993 engine/trans installation.

Next year should be a good one (fingers crossed). Car's all serviced, requiring only an oil change--no valve adjustment.

Since I bought my car in 1992, the lowest cost year has been 1993--the first year of ownership--at $842 (major service and rear brakes). The next cheapest year was 1997, at $1895.

Mods for next year? Installation of a converted 993 exhaust system, or more likely the GHL cat-header/heaters.

Hey Kevin ... how 'bout yourself? I know you did several interesting projects this year.

Bought my '93 C2 tip on October 30. Immediatley spent £1900 on new rear discs, pads & sensors, new front pads, new front wishbones, oil pipes from reservoir to oil cooler. Recently spent £60 on new battery (previous owner left me with a 45 Amphr tiddler!!) and £70 adjusting passenger door handle.

The car is super. Will spend £400 on a service in 2002, about £500 on a new rear taillight assembly and hopefully that will be it!!

Merry Xmas.

Anybody that spent this much money on a 911 should have been ready to run a bathtub full of water, climb in and un-zip a vein after seing that DP 935 go for $40,600.00. Here is a car that had it all. 570 HP, supension, brakes, looks, exclusivity, and to top it off, purist appeal! When somebody put a link to the car on ebay, the reaction was to immediatly criticize the car. But I guess if I had 40K in some non-turbo slug I'd be looking for a reason to criticize that car too.

Nobody criticized the car - they questioned the authenticity, and criticized the seller for not providing more details or responding to questions. With the reserve as low as it was, it was either some sort of kit, or an extremely good deal. It looks like it's gonna cost someone $40k to find out...

Carlos, you always have a graceful way of putting words.

BTW, I am VERY proud of my "non-turbo" slug...and that's 50K I have invested to date.

I didn't follow the link, but I'm sure a TRUE DP935 would go for well over 40K.

Let's try to be a little less critical of people on this board...we're all here to have fun and fill each other with useful, sometimes useless, information.
