What are the advantages of having different wheel sizes front and back? I've never considered this before.

With the roads here in LA I'd like to keep the front w/a 17 and a high profile tire. Gives me a little less feed back and better clearance in the front. W/an 18 rear I get better tire size selection and with the lower profile and stiffer sidewall its like having a slighly high spring rate which works well for my driving style...to get that w/the 17 I almost need to overinflate the tire and then it doesn't work as well and also makes a lot more heat. Anyway, you can't really tell that big of a difference w/the wheels in size, etc. It will look right.

That's it no big mystery just wondering. I may do it and if so I'll let you know how it works.

I was just wondering in general terms LA964RS as opposed to your reasons for desiring it. After reading the posts above regarding various cars that have this setup I wondered what the advantages might be. Thanks for sharing regardless!

Overinflating in the rear increases understeer.

18 inch rears increaser rear weight bias and unsprung weight... the rims are heavier.

2 more thoughts for you.

I think most people will tell you that overinflating provides less grip. Overinflating the rear would therefore bias the car toward oversteer (rear is loose)

Yes, rear a little looser....dial out some of the huge push in the car.

If I run the set up the car is going to have to be "adjusted" to make it work. It certainly WILL NOT bolt on and be "good".

Thanks for all the input. I love this site.
