Question Quick release hub / air bag question...

I just replaced my stock steering wheel with a Sparco wheel and quick release hub. I have not disabled the passenger airbag yet (this weekend). In addition to the air bag warning light, I now have the seatbelt light on. Did I miss something on the driver's side? I disconnected the two connectors and left them alone. I've read in past posts on how to disconnect the passenger bag and jump the wires to 'fool' the system. I've also read people using OEM connectors to disable the warning lights and/or airbag. Any suggestions?

For those who converted to a quick release, do you have an operational horn? Furthermore, does your blinker cancel switch work?

Thanks in advanced,

Dear John,
On US versions of the 964 the seat belt warn is designed to come on with the airbag warn. It is wired up this way to advise you that you now ned the seat belt. Well that is the theory. However no matter what you do you will have to have the system reset using a Bosch hammer. You have disconnected the pill and that has activated the warns.
I am afraid I cannot advise you on disabling safety equipment. The passenger side has a legal dispensation to be disabled as long as it is placarded discabled. No such legal dispensation is available to the best of knowledge for the drivers side.
Ciao,
Adrian

Use the bridge adapter PN 928 612 220 00.

It's about $9.50

Don't know about the other stuff.

John,

You can do a search on the Rennlist racing or 911 email lists, where there are several posts discussing how to disable the airbag system, from a year or two ago. As I recall this was done by people turning their 964's into dedicated racers.
