Post DME on Early C4

Adrian,

Regarding your request for the DME number on my early 89 C4 (number 459), I havn't had a chance to uncover the unit (I assume it's under the passenger floorboard like a 944) and read the part number but I do have the stock chip (there's an autothority installed in the DME box) and the number on the chip is 1267355759. It is a 28 pin chip.

I'll get the DME control box number when I have a chance and post it here.

Ciao

Geoff;

Your DME is located under your drivers seat.

Dear Geoff,
No problem. Look forward to seeing the part number,
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: Kevin is right by the way. The DME us under the drivers seat. You can see the part numbers on the label on the top with a torch and by sliding the seat fully back. You may also have to clean off an inch of dust.

An inch of dust!! Adrian have you been driving your car in the Swiss desert! Mine was as clean as Canadian alpine air.

The numbers on the label are

911.618.124.00 (Porsche Part Numer)

Type 911 MW-DZ-01

0 261 200 182 (Bosch Number?)

Is that what you would expect?

Dear Geoff,
When you live in the mountains you get used to static electricity and its love of gathering dust up.
Anyway, you have an old DME part number, same as mine. Exactly what I would expect for your C4 post Feb or early March 1989 (and should have been retrofitted to all earlier ones anyway).
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: Chip upgrades in these DME are pretty useless. The 964 series react much better than the earlier 911 series used.
