Great pictures, this goes into more detail than my write up. I hope to update it with more reasons for fuel odor when I get a chance.

Jaime... I sent an email to Sunset using the part number you supplied... Here's the response....

Hi, the # you gave me is for the cars that used to take leaded gas and for use in Japan. The one for our cars that have the leaded gas restrictor plate in it is close # to yours, it should be 964-201-043-06 for 93.58 and takes 4-5 weeks to get to us from Germany. An extra 20.00 gets it here in 2-10 working days. Plus 8.00 UPS shipping from us to you. No tax from Oregon to you.

Does this make sense to you? Do I need your part number or the one here?

The one I ordered about a month ago from Pelican was p/n 964.201.043.06 which I assumed was the latest version.

Well... That jives with what they said... Jaime ordered it from the same place that quoted me the price though... So I'm a little curious.

I also have a filler neck on the way, ordered at Sunset Porsche about two weeks ago. I just gave my car model info, didn't get a part number. It seems all the 964s need these now if they haven't already been replaced, I'm surprised they don't order several and keep a few on hand, instead of having to place individual orders to Germany. My specialist quoted $145 for the filler, which is probably the OPC list price. Sunset's prices are lower than anywhere else I've found -- I've ordered several items from them recently. Their service is excellent and no sales tax offsets the shipping charge

I will have to check when I get back home (on vacation until July 4 )... price seems correct... as long as you order the part for your car model year you should be fine... again, once I get back home I will check.

PET shows 964-201-043-06 as the current regular filler neck and 964-201-043-07 for 964s with options M150 - (operates with leaded gas) and/or M193 (version for japan).

Enjoy your vacation!

Jeff from Sunset writes...

This p/n supercedes 2 times, the first # 964-201-043-03 was the one that dealt with the smell, then they revised it to an 06 so maybe changed it again. It's the same one they used on later 964's so they changed it to work on the early cars is my guess. That smell issue was addressed on the 03 part number change though.

Just FYI...

Jaime... Thanks for posting this DIY article. I bought a fuel filler neck from Wayne at Sunset Imports. They had just received a batch in so it was a little cheaper than originally quoted. (I was going to pay for express service to get it here more quickly.)

It only took 10 minutes to do this fix with the pictures you posted as a guide! BTW... I did this with a little over 3/4 tank of gas with no problems.

Thanks again for the great DIY article!

I did mine yesterday too using Jaime's guide (and John Miles' too) and the guides were both very good and complimentary.

Many thanks from me too!

is this still the ltest part number 964 201 043 07? great write up.
i need to do this as my car stinks not just in side but out. I tried that number at desin 911 and he said it was for a japanese car is it the same for a uk car?

thanks

edited as I have just read the rest of the thread so I need 964.201.043.06 by the loooks of it. I have tried ringing my local Porsce dealer but the parts department are busy.

Cool

Well... part number was stamped in the part and can be seen in one of the photos...

I did end up with 964 201 043 07 ... more fuel choices I guess

I will make corrections to the DIY to reflect the availability of both numbers and the differences.
