Default Carrera GT Driver and Passenger killed today in CA Speedway...

Very sad day in CA...

http://www.nbc4.tv/news/4562562/detail.html#

Apparently had to swerve at 165 mph to avoid a slower moving Ferrari entering the track. It was a Ferrari Owners track day event.

Very, very sad and shocking. The owner/driver was a Rennlister too.

Just shows the Chassis must be very strong, but the G forces probably could not be taken by the passangers. Sad day.

Not wanting to ruin anyone's parade ,but is this online dissection of the accident really in the best of taste?
I think not to be honest.
By all means show your support to the family of the deceased, but please refrain from making comments in print that you would not make in person to the family at this time.
These were real people who have a real family with real feelings.
Show some respect.

Terribly sad. Horrible.

Some good will come of it, if it makes any one of us increase our safety margin in our 'normal' driving, which it surely will. Sooner or later, one of us could avoid an accident if we just think about what happened to Ben.

I couldn't help thinking what it felt like when a Ferrari pulled out on ME at a track day at Castle Combe. The speeds were much lower, of course, but this makes the memory of that car suddenly swerving right into my path very vivid. I recommend we all make EXTRA allowance for what the 'other guy' might do.

Shame there was a concrete barrier (it appears) there instead of armco or tyres.

It is times like this that we as individuals suddenly forget all the minor problems that we get so worked up about, and remember that there is so much more to life.

To ben and Cory's families, my prayers are with you, I pray and know that you will hav the strength to go on... that I am sure is what Ben and Cory would have wanted even though i do not know them personally. I can only say that I know this as a father to my own 3 beautiful children, a son to my parents and a husband to my dear wife.

My and my families prayers are with you all in this incredible time of loss.....

Yes, Ben in LJ was very active on the Carrera GT section of this board, as well as being an active member of Ferrarichat.com (he also owned a 360 Stradale)... lets please not dissect this too much, but rather pray for the recovering from the loss that he and Cory's family are going through.

Both these people lived not far from me and I used to see the CGT here in my neighborhood. I did not know them personally.

Sad and very unnerving to have someone and so close by suffer an untimely end.

I am very sorry for the familes of these men.
