Got a response from Chevron

"Dear Sir,thank you for your enquiry regarding Techron fuel
additive.Unfortunatly we do not market this product in the U.K. However,we
do have the ability to import this product from the U.S.A. if your
requirement is for commercial quantities.Alternatively, we do market a
product called Proguard which has Techron as one of it's components. This
product is available through Costco superstores.Should you have any further
queries please do not hesitate to get in touch. "

Cool

O.k.,

Here a update, on my fuel cleaner additive, TUNAP Injection cleaner/service which I did in my tank April 3rd, and 140 liters of fuel ago [I filled up my tank again if it was still 1/2 full, this was their advice].

The engine runs in idle more stabile, and starts a little better [but that was not bad before].
I think Padova Porsche [Italy] did not use this stuff during service.

Just to let you know.

Went to Costco on Saturday. They have Proguard there containing Techron. I think it was around £9 for 2 bottles (2 treatments) - it comes in a twin-pack.

BTW, For anyone using Castrol Magnatech (JZM customers), Costco have a 4.5 litre can for £15. From memory I think I paid around £8 for 1 litre at the petrol station......

Hi Christer

1) What does BTW mean? I've been meaning to ask for ages... but never dared!
2) Is the Casrol Magnatech the semi synthetic 10 - 40??

Thanks
Piers

Piers. yes the magnatech is the semi-synth one that is used by JZM in their standard service....JZM will reduce your service bill by £70 if you supply your own oil....that means I can save £25 at the next service if I buy my oil at Costco....wohoo!!!

Mind you, I am sorely tempted to go with Castrol Formula RS 10-60W next time. The cheapest I have seen there is £29.99 for a 4 litre can - of which I guess I will need 3....

So there goes that saving...

High,

How are you going to put the Techron in first? Will you siphon all the gas out of the tank first?

I doubt if your engine will be impressed by running purely on Techron for a couple of miles to the nearest gas station even if you do manage it.....

Christer,

Could you tell what the difference is between techron and proguard containing techron. Im just wondering why they supply one but not the other.

Thanks

The Proguard product contains *techron' according to the label. I don't remember any more than that as I will go back in about 4000 miles time and buy some then.

Perhaps this product is more advanced for the sophisticated European market? US consumers are happy with just the old, out of date and basic Techron stuff...

I was only pulling your leg - I think most of the products recommend that a full tank of petrol is present when adding the Techron/Wynns whatever.

As a stay-at-home dad you have my full respect and more importantly - sympathy

Have fun!
