Just having some fun. I posed this question to a P-car loving friend of mine the other day and he still can't make up his mind.
What Porsche would you buy if you could only spend $40000 assuming that won't get you a 993S or 993 Turbo. RSA, 965 (91 or 92), 930, 993, 996, Boxster S...
For $40K, the options are unlimited. The 1999 and 2000 996's are there, even Porsche certified. Almost any used Boxter, 1995 to 1997 993's, and then unlimited pre 965 turbo's. Occassionly, I see a higher mileage 965 that would fall into that price.
My choice for that money would probably be a faster, fun, as good or better handeling out of the box and fully warrantied near new non Porsche car. So many choices out there now. The $20K area would be what I have now.
I'd get a 1993/4 964 Turbo and spend the extra on mods... Forget the Boxter... I heard a line that sums up what I think of them... "The Boxter is a Porsche with Panties."
do you have mor infos about the 993/964 in classic style / look ???? looks great.
thx
christian
Yup. What he said. If you look at the profile for JackOlsen you will see his sig with a series of links to more information about his car... in his case he used a 1972 tub with 3.6 internals from a 1993 car... I wonder how difficult it would be to do it the other way around... take a 964 and convert it to look like an RS/RSR... I hope to find out a year from now (trying to set a goal for finding a donor car for this project... but it has to be after a I pay off our next vacation - now that the 951 is gone there is an empty space in the garage...)
