Default EXCELLENCE June 2005

Just received the latest edition of Excellence, and I have to say that during the past three years of my subscription, only a hand full of the mags have what I would consider a really good article, and this is one of them.

The article titled "The Turbo that never was" was great. This is the stuff I really enjoy reading. The lost or hidden info that really shows what Porsche was capable of, when the enthusiest was pinpointed as the market for sales.

AGREED.That was a good, good article but the puzzle was Porsche were searching for a 4 valve solution with water cooled heads with the 959 next door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Dooooooooh. Problem is the four valve heads dont leave enough for air cooling when a turbo comes on the scene , but non turbo is OK.
Hey, we could have had a 996GT3 motor in 89!!!!!

speaking of a GT-3 engine
we could easily (i say this very generally b/c it's not so easy) put a GT-3 motor in a 964, add a G-50 32 and it would be one hell of a ride.

Great article too...They come around occasionally

Did you also read the article about the restored IROC car?

Belive it or not, the fellow has attended our annual Fiesta del Porsche autocross, and flogged it around a police driver training track. I succumbed to the urge, and asked if I could sit in it.

A very nice fellow, he was only to happy, so long as I mopped up my own drool.

...and a really minor thing to that issue was that there was quite a few 964's mentioned in the Reader Sales Reports... There are not usually that many mentioned each month.
