As a die-hard 993 guy I say... Keep the speedster. Speedster is unique and you will regret it. If you can handle it, buy a 993 that is not perfect like Steve G said.

I would guess the OP has made his decision by now.

I would go for the 993 hands down if driving fun is the #1 goal. The structural rigidity of the Speedster is certainly worse than a 964 or 993 coupe, and the tip is not the best way to enjoy a Porsche (I am trying to be as diplomatic as possible here). As far as future collectibility goes the Speedster would be the no brainer choice due to rarity, although I think you will take a hit for the tip and comfort seats.

I have not heard of any early 993 problems, I would be curious to hear details on this. Many people like the 96-98 cars due to the addition of Varioram and deletion of the basket handle 3rd brake light. Others actually prefer the 95 993 since they does not have OBDII.

+1! This thread is 8 years old!!!!

Turns out over those past 8 years that owning a 964 Speedster has been a solid investment...

Yeah. Now let's hypothesize about what all the specialty 911's will be worth in 2016! 140K RSA worth more than $20K?

LOL - good point! Who knows.... I still can't believe that I passed on a 4k example of a 92 US Cup back 2002 for $65K. I saw that very car for sale this summer for $120K (and it sold)...

Those RSAs still seem to command top dollar - even after being tracked hard... Got to love the specialty 964s...
