Default big reds 965 rotors same as 928 GTS?

Okay, I've spent the past hour searching the archives for an answer. Still can't find it so I'm hoping someone does

I have a 964 with big reds. Currently I'm using the 965 rotors in the front. I've been told that the 928 GTS rotors are the same and will fit. I ask because I've also been told that they are not cross drilled but rather solid. As anyone heard about this?

Thanks!

Bill Verburg's website suggests that Big Reds have a larger diameter rotor (322mm) than the S4 (928 S4?) rotor (304mm).

As I recall the 928 S4 was the most recent/most powerful 928.
I'm not familiar with the 928 GTS.

Im no 928 expert, but I recall the 928S4 to be the late 80s version, then it went to the 928GT, and then ended with the GTS in 94-95.

Rotor part numbers are:

C2 Turbo (which I think use the 928S4 brakes) 965 351 043(4) 00
C2T 3.6 965 351 045(6) 00
928 GTS 928 351 045(6) 01

Cant tell from the part numbers the difference between the 3.6 and GTS rotors. Could be solid versus crossdrilled, could be different dimensions.

Sorry I cant answer your question.

Manny, You have 965 rotors in the front? I also have "big reds" but mine are 993 calipers and rotors in front and 965 calipers and rotors in the rear.

Tom, I thought big reds and 993 calipers were different!

Tom,
I have big reds with the one piece 965 rotors. The 993TT rotors wouldn't fit. My mechanic accidentally ordered a set and fund out it would work. Don't know if this has anything to with the adaptors or not. My rears are 968 style.

993 (non turbo) front calipers are "smaller" than Big Reds in that they fit a pad that is 10mm "shorter" - the width is the same between the two. The 993 caliper, or S4 calipers, use a 928 rotor on a 964 so it has the right offset. A "Big Red" or Big Black (928 GTS caliper) uses a 965 rotor which is cross-drilled, on a 964 - it's a bigger rotor in that it has more area to contact the "taller" pad.
