Default Check Engine Light on/off/on

1991 C2, runs perfectly, oil pressure excellent, oil temp nice and low, oil level perfect, all belts fine. Check engine light came on during a 1000 mile trip, went off, came back on again. I will bring it in to the shop Monday, just curious if there was something I could check out in the meantime.

Thanks!

You can "pull the codes" by your self - if you search on here, there is a description of a method to do it using just the gas pedal pressed in a certain way with the ignition on (not the engine) - I can't remember off-hand or I'd give you better information! But you can see what code is stored by the DME computer by doing this - then you'll have an idea of what's wrong.

Here you go - Bill Wagner did a great job outlining this procedure:

THANK YOU!

That is excellent, he did do a great job. I have code 1232, which is Knock Sensor II. It even knew that it was an intermittant problem!

Gary, When did this start?....? on the drive home or after you got there??.
What exactly does that code mean? I never had that happen.

thanks! Michael

Hi Michael - It was at 40,200 miles to be precise! The light went out soon after, then came back on in New York, and today its out again! From what I have just read here a simple cleaning of the green connectors solves the issue and the sensors themselves rarely fail. I'll do the cleaning tomorrow and see what happens!

I gave her the clay bar treatment today and two coats of Zaino, paint looks beautiful. Take a peek -
