Post 964/993 Carpets

I want to replace the tired looking carpeting of my 1990 C2.
My Porsche centre tells me that the 'current' carpet set that Porsche would supply is actually for a 993.
Can anyone tell me what, if any, differences there were between the two? My car is a coupe with air-con (retro-fitted), right hand drive.

David Nunn at Southbound Motor Trimmers in Sockbridge, Hampshire (01264 810 080) can supply the original carpet as fitted to your car, he sources it direct from Gemany.

My RS was carpeted by him last year and he did a first class job.

Did Southbound source the material and then cut and trim it themselves, or did they use a Pre-cut kit (such as I would get from Porsche?).

Is it truly as good as factory finish?

Oh, and what colour is it?

It is made completely from scratch using acurate templates , Southbound have the same kit the factory use to bond the plastic heel area on the drivers carpet, so it really is as good as it left the factory.

I also had some genuine Porsche overmats fitted and they cut out and bound a perfect hole to fit around the floor mounted fire extinguisher.

Thanks.

I've spoken to Southbound and am now confident that the carpets would be 100% satisfactory.
Which brings me to seats...
Anyone had seats retrimmed by SB or others to a high standard?

You can trust them to do the lot, they are well respected in Porsche circles and carry most of the OE fabrics in stock.

Years ago they even managed to track down a metre of red tartan fabric from Germany which had gone out of production years ago, for the front seats of my 1977 Carrera 3.0. None of the main dealers were remotely interested.

This is something I've been talking about since I got my car. I wish there was somewhere as well respected as Southbound here locally that could complete the entire process.

I found a shop to do the labour (mrstitch.com) but they left it to me to source the kit. The only place thats been recommended to me time and again is worldupholstery.com

I had the EXACT same experience awaiting my shift boot from Alan Gunn Leather Accessories (AGLA) and recieved a million different excuses from I think it was "Diane", even saying it must have gotten lost in the mail but they would make a new one and get it out within a few weeks!! A coincidence...?

Hi

What sort of price are we looking at for the carpet set, I was looking at replacing my carpet set and getting the interior leather reconnelised (Spelling?).

I am in Jersey but I think I could get someone to fit it. There have been a few good coments re a US supplier on carpet sets?

Cheers
Rob

fit the carpets yourself , its very easy !!!

southbound 01264810080 , for a mail order carpet kit or a fitted kit . also for reasonably priced quality leather retrrims

leathercare renovations 01925 851621 , for quality reconnolising ( mailorder will be expensive due to courier costs/weight of seats , but you can have the car done same day if you drive there !! )
the are in warrington , the only 2 good things i know about warrrrrington are ......... 9meister are there , and manchester is near-by !!

Yes, I need new mats I think, as the ones I have now slide forward after heavy braking.....i don't know whether factory mats are underneath though...I'll have to check that...
