Gremlin noises???
When it is cool outside, or when I just start my car and drive it, everything is fine. When it gets warmer, there is a noise that I just can't figure out. Sounds like the rear brakes (mostly left side, I think) are grinding. Only thing is, the noise does not change when I press the brakes. It stops when the car stops. It starts and continues any time the car is rolling, whether I'm on the brakes or not. Pads were just changed a few months ago. I do not hear any noise at all when car is cold. Any ideas???
Is it a low or high pitch sound? I occaisionally get a faint high pitch noise when my car is hot - generally hear it when in slow moving trafic in second or third gear. I too wondered if it was the brakes, but also just had them changed!
Is your noise similar?

Funnily enough mine too stops when the car is not moving! I'm having the engine & gearbox pulled next month for a flywheel & clutch - I'll get my mechanic to check the gearbox/wheel bearings.
Does it make the noise if you are coasting in neutral? That would rule out the wheel bearings and point towards the gearbox perhaps?

Got it! It's definately related to the parking brake. Don't know exactly what the problem is, but I can manipulate the p-brake and the noise will vary. Anyone ever had any experience with this???
