Post Problem with timing, I think?

I recently noticed my gauges were a bit dirty, so I started to clean them. One thing led to another and before long I had taken all the gauges out. So after reinstalling the gauges I went for a spin. After the engine warmed up it seem to "mis". When I say "mis" I mean the engine timing seams to "mis" a cylinder. It feels like the engine turn off for a split second and turns back on. OOOhhhh, I forgot the most important thing. The battery was not unplugged when I did gauge cleaning! I know what a rookie, dumb !*&#@&, and whatever bad you can thing of. Has anyone ever made this mistake and solved it? Any suggestions on the problem?

Dear Mak,
Yes you can solve this problem. Pop open the luggage compartment and disconnect the battery negative cable. Leave your Roadster for around 30 minutes with the battery disconnected. Then re-connect your battery (do not forget your radio codes by the way. This can be a problem is your radio is still coded and you do not have them)
up again and go for a spirited drive your at least 15 minutes. Ensure you do not turn the engine off and make sure you use all the gears and all the rpms you can. The more you use the more maps will get loaded up.
This is called a DME reset. The other way to do this is to turn the ignition on. Put the foot on the gas pedal and push to the floor hard for 11 seconds or more. Then with your foot still on the pedal turn the ignition off. Release the pedal and start up and do the same driving things as mentioned above. This is called "Flashing the DME" also a DME reset. However you should make sure your WOT (wide open throttle microswitch) is functioning. Because most people rarely go wide open throttle so they have no idea what it does or if it is working. If you have the check engine light it may flash after 5 seconds. Ignore this and keep your foot on the pedal,
Ciao,

PS: I prefer the battery disconnect because this cannot fail. Just watch out for alarm codes and radio codes. The alternative is to get a Bosch Hammer hooked up and use this for a DME reset. This will normally cost you a few dollars though.

thank you Adrian for the info. I have already tried the battery disconect reset procedure. I have taken the car to the dealer and they told me that I fried the DME/computer. They put a computer in an it works fine. Is there a way I can rebuild the old one?
