Trying to understand the LSD option. What's the standard % lock-up. I would assume around 25%.
Am I right?

Unless you're talking a C4, stock lockup on a C2 is, for intent and purpose, 0. If it were, for example, 25%, there wouldn't be a 40% LSD option.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting because my M3 has 25% lock-up as standard. I wonder why Porsche never just included the LSD if it was designing a sports car and knew that people would be driving them hard. Maybe I'm jsut confused.

It's usage depends on the customer. The customer who drives one on the weekends in the country probably would never know the limits of it's performance potential. Some might suggest that up until the 3.6L engines with 250 hp, that limited slips weren't very neccessary for even sporting street usage - however, it has been an option for those that wanted it. Plus, like any complex product, the manufacturer needs to make a call on how much to put in, how much much to charge, what will the market bear, etc. I did check Paul Frere's book, and didn't see anything on including or not including LSD as standard.
