I did my first autocross today. Had a blast untill the last of six runs. Never over rev'd the engine but suddenly had alot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust.
I shut it down right away and steered off the track. Head gasket? I hope so. Inside of exhaust tip very oily. Probably replace the clutch while the engine's out. By the way I joined Rennlist my status should update in afew days.

White smoke is usually condensation and signifies very little ( other than a new Pope perhaps). Unless I'm being thick I can't see the connection with the head gasket.
Has there been a loss of power?

No leak on the ground under the car. But alot of oil in the exhaust. Yes there is a loss of power, but the car will start right up and blow alot of white smoke. It's clearly burning oil big time.

I'm no expert when it comes to these engines but I'm almost certain there is nothing broken inside the engine. Like I said it will start right up and sounds okay. Will a blown head gasket put oil into the cylinder?

My favorite is injestion from overfilled oil tank. A 10-mile run at highway speed should clear that out completely, and no major harm done. You will need to clean the intake system and the air flow sensor will probably be contaminated with oil.
The other choices are not good - a broken piston ring or possible a valve seal broke off. Cars that have been pampered too much often will break the top ring the first time they are run to the limit. The wear ridge and the deposits form too low in the cylinder simply because the piston never travels to the very top like it does at the red line. When you finally take the engine up to red line, the top ring hits the wear ridge or the deposits. Rings have to be hard, so they are brittle.
I'll keep my fingers crossed you had too much oil in the engine.

I just returned from Eurocar Inc. I've dodged what I thought was a major bullet. Indycam you hit it right on the head. Too much oil + high running temps + hard turns = over flow. Compression checked out fine, drove the hell out of the car to burn the excess out. Everything is fine.
