Post Airco woes.

Hello to every reader and thanks already,

I fear I have airco troubles ... and am quiet afraid of the possible price tag !

The problem :

There's hardly cold air comming out of the vents when I engage the airco. I can see condensation water dripping on the floor when the car is stalled. When I look at the hub(on the compressor), it is not attracted to the pulley. Guess the clutch doesn't work !

I've cheched the fuses and they are OK.

I've read that maybe I might be low of refrigerant therefor lack of pressure, etc....

As I've said in other posts : I'm the worst mechanic in the world or one of them but, I am willing to check the sight glass but I've got no idea where I can find the receiver drier (hey shoot me!)

The cry for help : Can someone tell me pls where I can find this receiver drier ? How do I read the level correctly ? Is this a question of a simple refill of freon/refrigerant or am I off for new compressor $$$$$ <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

I know there can be several causes but with little help I wanna exclude them step by step so I can get me an idea of the problem/price tag.

Thanks vm

aprox 3 months owner of a C4 '89 73.000km, no idea of possible past refrigerant refills ... the car drove mainly in the wintermonths.

vm;

Most likely you are low on freon, if you are low there is a pressure switch that does now engage the compressor clutch. Your receiver drier is located behind left front fender inner plastic wheelwell, directly below your fuel cap. The only bad thing is the cost of the liquid gold.
