My 90 C2 has all the 964 warts.I live with the cylinderhead leak,I have upgraded the flywheel, replaced the distributor(no vent kit installed yet because I don't believe in it),yet this is the most reliable car I've owned. It has never let me down, feels very stong and looks stunning.

Until a few weeks ago I would have had little to add to this string.
As I have posted a week ago already, my car has had very low compression diagnosed on one cylinder. It turned out that around the exhaust valve stem a lot of material is burnt away causing the stem to shift and hence the low compression. My engine has 100.000 km (62.000 miles) and even though it is chipped (reputable tuner Roock) I do not race the car. Aside of the low compression several leaks were detected. Furthermore, I have had annoying problems with engine hesitation and engine dying during driving.
Do I say all 964 are problematic? Far from it. My car seems to have some issues. And I have the first hand information.
But if you are man enough to drive a 964 you should be man enough to deal with an allegedly bad reputation of your car! Talk to the White Corvette with Red Interior Pimp Club members...

People,
Come on do not worry about it. Excellence has had a negative view of the 964 almost since it was released. They starting getting heavy in 1994. Nothing has changed. If you write to the editor of Excellence you will be guaranteed no reply. He did not reply to me or to others who complained officially in writing about the Racers Group. After TRG won at LeMans 2002, Excellence announced there was nothing of any interest to Americans at LeMans and would not cover the event.
Let it go and stop helping them spread such words.
Ciao,
Adrian

Thanks Adrian,
Yes think about this the same, ask around in the 'Ferrari'scene, don't talk about the all the other exotics.
I think we have a small list of things we have to take care off, or is already fixed. Other sports cars have so much you don't want to know.................
So drive around and be happy!
A friend of mine works at a Ferrari Dealer, Myself worked there also for a periode.

I don't think my wife has yet quite forgiven me for selling the 1990 C4 and replacing it with a 1996 993. She loved that 964, and still hasn't 'bonded' with the 993.
