Oh, and one more thing (I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier). Why not take some pics along the way and write up a DIY on the subject? Sounds like a great idea to me...

What brand of oil are you all using for refilling the transmission? Has anyone deviated from synthetic 75W 90?

I put Mobil 1 75W90 in mine.

I just put in Redline Snth 75W 90.

In addition to regular Mobil 1 lube I also use a pint of Chevrolet limited-slip differential fluid.

Monitor your synchros after you start driving again. My shift "feel" got a lot worse after putting in Redline Synth 75W 90.

After a month I drained that and filled with Mobile 1 75W 90. Shift action is much improved - very good now. No affilliation with either company - just "seat of the pants" observation.
