Question Which service at 86k miles??

Bought my tiptronic C2 in October with 83k miles. Last service was at 79k miles. When I bought it, I had PPI, and then new gearbox filter& oil, new engine filter & oil, new brake fluid (had new discs etc).

So, time is approaching for another service, as it is 11 months since the service at 79k miles.

So, do I need a 12k service, or will a look in my book suggest that a 24k service wasn't done at 72k??

Finally, what should I expect from a 12k service that sucks £375 + VAT out of my wallet?? JZ Machtech do a 12K for less than £300, but I assume this doesn't include tappet adjusting.

Any useful tips would be handy before I start negotiating with the pirates, er, mechanics!!!

The car needs a full service every year or 12000 miles according to the handbook. Some items such as brake fluid etc is needed every 2 years. I would have suggested JZM but you are a bit far away.

I would say though that I would be suspicious of anyone doing a full service for under £350. The OEM Porsche kit costs around £100 and there is almost £100 worth of oil or so. Doesn't leave a lot left for 8 hours of Porsche trained labour does it? Don't go for cheapest - it won't pay in the long run.

Strasse in Leeds are £375 + VAT, but this includes tappet work. Just trying to get an idea of other's experiences with their 12k services.

the 12,000 miles service involves setting the valve clearances.

You need to look carefully at your car's service history to see when this was last done.

On a low mileage car I would suggest an annual inspection and oil service with a 12,000 miles service every two years if the car does less than 6,000 miles a year.
