Unhappy Whaaaaaaaaaah! Sad Story

Beware, next time you think you can make it over one of those semi-truck tire treads that are strewn about the highway...think again!

So, there went $300 worth of fiberglass with $100 worth of Glasurit paint...never mind the cost of those PRICELESS Polka Dots!!

Luckily Michael Shaw is a good guy...think he might have felt sorry for me, as he offered me a fair deal for another front spoiler.

Would you say I'm "SPOILED"?? <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Okay, my first inclination was to joke you about your lack of reading comprehension...but I'll cut you some slack...this time.

Michael Shaw, the "nice guy" that I mentioned towards the end of my lovely story, is the owner of MA Shaw...his ads can be found in Excellence, Pano and other Porsche rags. He manufactures replica whale tails, wings, spoilers and other Porsche related body panels.

He does GREAT work! I'm not affiliated with him whatsoever, but I have bought a few fiberglass pieces in my lifetime for the various P-Cars that I've owned and I must say his quality if the finest...by far!

If you decide to buy a front "splitter", as he calls them, tell him I sent ya...he's a great guy to B.S. with as well - has LOTS of stories to tell.

Hi Jeff,

I also have a blown out tire story, but mine actually has a good ending (of sorts).

I was driving down I-5, when suddenly a section of blown tire came out from beneath the car in front of me, striking my hood with a solid thud. About 10s later, I look to my right and see an old Bronco on the side of the road, two guys changing a tire.

I took the next off-ramp, pulled over and inspected my hood. Long "S" shaped crease (not very deep, but present) with road rash. Got back in the car, circled back one exit, got back on the freeway and caught up to my buddies with un-roadworthy tires, still installing the spare.

To make a long story short, these guys didn't have insurance (of course). But, since I had all their information, AAA paid to repair/paint my hood, no deductable. If I didn't have their names, license number, etc., I would have been stuck paying my deductible ($1k). As it turns out, the repair was just over $1k.

The upside? I got a freshly painted hood for free (nice, when your car has 110k miles worth of stone chips). Also had a new "smile" put on at the same time. Best of all was the satisfaction of finally catching some smuck putting crap on the freeway, after all the debris-induced dings and damaged $windshields$ I've had over the years.
