Two days after complete clutch service (1600 Euros, which sound as bad as $1600 - we've finally reached parity!! )my C4 starter motor has stopped working. When I was driving the engine shut off twice and I restarted it regularly. I thought it was something wrong with my foot not yet accustomed to the new clutch. The third time it happened the engine didn't start immediately. I turned key again and starter motor gave no signs of life.
I restarted the C4 by pushing it. The starter motor seemed to engage the gear ("clack" sound) but it didn't rotate. Today my mechanic put it off and without load it works properly.
Anyone has ever experienced the same?
P.S. When the starter died, the driver from a german tourist bus came and helped me to push. Is this the worldwide famous german assistance ??

Dear Emanuele,
A dead starter motor will not cause your engine to stop. It is only used for starting. It plays no role once disengaged and you are driving along. I am tending to think you might have a problem with your battery positive or negative terminals or the ignition switch.
Now my answer is based on your post.

PS: Engine shutting down completely whilst driving along normally means power has been removed from the DME. This can be casued by what I have already stated or the one of the distribution relays being de-activated. I suspect the ignition switch.
