Need to clean my white paint
Hey guys ! I have noticed lately my paint is showing stains and I guess oily finger prints from working on stuff. Does anybody know of some type of cleaner that might get these off the paint. I tried maguires wax but didnt seem to help much. Is there something I can use maybe with my buffer to get it looking better? Paint is excellent as the car has been garaged all its life and kinda worried about trying something that may mess it up worse without checking with the experts first.
Thanks in advance

I had recently waxed my car with Meguiar's, but felt it needed something more to bring up the lustre. After reading about clay bars and speaking to the guy who does the detailing at my P-car place, I thought I would give that a try and purchased a package of Clay Magic, consisting of a blue clay bar and spray bottle of detailing fluid; $9.95 at AutoZone. It took a couple of hours to wash and dry the car, then go over it thoroughly with the clay bar and spray, and finally wax it again.
Although the car appeared to be clean before, the clay bar picked up a lot of gunk that is left attached to the paint after regular washing and waxing. Now my paintwork is super slippery and glossy, and I am very pleased with the result. Give it a try!

The steps I would use.
1. High pressure wash from bottom to top.
2. Wash with a good car shampoo.
3. Dry with chamois.
4. Clay bar with LOTS of lubricant.
5. Polish with an orbital polisher and a good product.
6. Wax with a good product. In your case, I'd go for a Carnauba wax as your car is prob not clear coated.
Shine on!

And do you think Ian's is not clear coated as it is a '91? I have a 1991 also but it sure looks clear-coated to me.

Hello Marc,
Herring choker??? Lived in NS for many years.
I use a fan spray. NOT the pressure washers that could punch a hole in steel!
Mine is a Karcher 1800 PSI unit operating at 220 volts. This is one advantage of the Euro electric system. FWIW

Keep hearing about this clay bar. Where do you get it ? Is it like a rubbing compond ? Will it leave scratches if used wrong? How is it used and do you need to scrub hard with it? using a lubercant of some type? Sorry for all the questions but this is a new process to me and dont want to make it worse then it is which really isnt bad except up close.
