can anyone tell me what it's fair&reasonable to ask for a complete 964 aircon system in 8/10 condition?
ie dash control unit - pipes - compressor & mount - condenser & HVAC suitcase from inside the frunk (behind the fuel tank).
Sadly not much. The control unit is always worth $$ if working and the HVAC suitcase as you put it have parts like fans and servos that are very pricey to replace and can fetch some money. If it is R12 the rest of the system I have I can't give away and if R134 there is a market for it for those who want to do a full conversion. I hate to say a few hundred maybe more for everything and then it is a PITA to ship.
Might be worth parting out the control unit, Servos, fan motors and tossing the rest if it is R12 and see if you can get some money for any R134 parts separately. I think it will sell better that way vs trying to sell it as a single system.
I tried selling the suitcase with fan motors and servos and nobody would buy it for $200 yet I parted it and sold the servos for $500. $100 each. I kept the fan motors.

They are not. Which is unfortunate, as the C2 axles are readily available.
I ended up getting one from LA Dismantlers, not thrilled about the price but it is what it is

If their interested and willing to put the money into the conversion I say ask away.
That is not going to be an easy job to make work. I'm not even sure how one would go about it.
