Default Buying from Vertexauto

I need to buy a new/rebuillt steering rack and Vertexauto.com is the cheapest option by far, even if I include shipping, VAT etc.

How can they sell things so much cheaper than anybody else, and can you trust them?

Does anyone know?

Thanks,

I've purchased from them without issue. Phone support is not overwhelming and they don't include as many "bells and whistles" as the other online vendors, e.g. nice packaging, frequent e-mail updates on your order, etc. But they get the job done.

Make sure you have the Excellence Magazine with you (or Panorama)... the prices over the phone and what is quoted in the Magazine or in their website sometimes are different... you have to confirm price and ask them to honor the price in the mag.

As far as the parts I have purschased from them, no problems so far. They once sent the wrong plug wires (for a 993 instead of 964) and were very good about changing them (no additional cost of shipping for me).

I've ordered lots from them over the years - brake rotors, brake lines, clutch slave cylinders (x2), hood shocks... they've always been good. Shipping takes a bit from the other side of the country, but otherwise they've been just fine.
Wachuko is right about the pricing - web site is more than the Pano..

I actually had a difficult time with Vertexauto. I bought a front bumper last year that was defective (cracked and splintered in multiple places). It took about 20 phone calls and 3 months before my credit card was refunded.

I did order a rear center reflector on another occaision and had no difficulties with that transaction.

I have ordered from them. Prices are low, but they will sell non-OEM parts. That is fine for some things, but not for others. Just make sure you know what you are getting, and you will be fine.

True... I tend to check prices from Sunset Porsche (cost + 15%) (http://www.sunsetporsche.com/) , from the local dealer (PCA discount and sometimes even 25% discount depending on who I talk to...) to validate prices. Believe it or not, sometimes the original part from Suncoast Porsche is a few dollars within aftermarket.

Have you also checked with http://www.griffiths.com/porsche/index.html they seem to have a good reputation.

Ive used them several times and have found them excellent. Prices should be confirmed and give extra discount on larger orders. Not fancy but cheap. Awesome deal on taillight sets. Doug

Are you buying from Sunset Imports in Oregon or Suncoast in Florida? So far, I haven't found anyone that can touch Sunset in Oregon for OE.

Correct.... let me fix the post: http://www.sunsetporsche.com/

I just call in and make the order. No problem at all with them so far.

Be aware that they charge 3% extra for credit cards and their shipping includes a handling fee. Can be noteworthy on heavier items.

Bill,
Does "they" refer to Vertex? I don't remember Sunset charging extra for a credit card.

My apology, the post applies ONLY to Vertex.

I have ordered several items from Vertex and always received great customer service and very fast shipping. On one occasion they sent me a bad window switch and when I called they shipped out a replacement immediatley without question. I have been very pleased with them.
