Thumbs up

George, you're a genuine PP - Porsche Purist. That is not to say you should not mod your car, if you like it, well, you like it and you're also a PP - Porsche Personalizer

Now everybody is happy

Hi,

Another idea for chin spoiler would be to use the RUF one. The previous owner on my RSA added an RS euro tail, and I added the RUF chin spoiler. I was looking at the MA Shaw one but hesitated since my car is quite low and the curbs here are not that friendly. Maybe something to think about too.

Another brand would be www.gt-racing.com My bodyshop recommended them if I didn't go for the RUF part. He does many custom designs for the local Club Racers.
I've also seen a front spoiler from Windward Performance that looked quite nice, however the ground clearence is even less.

If I can figure out a way to add pictures to the list I'd be happy to send a picture of the RUF solution.

Thanks,

Hi,

Got picture of the RUF spoiler uploaded. You can see it here:

http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/106-0653_img.jpg

http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/106-0654_img.jpg

It was the best I could do. Don't know how I can post a picture inside the reply so this have to do.

As the car is currently being completely re-built after my brief but expensive journey through a fence, when I have a new bumper fitted I am not bothering with the spitter.

Hey George what happened?? It would also be interesting to know where you are having the work done, and what your verdict on their quality etc is when finished. Locally to me we have superb paint and bodyshop outfit (specialises in Astons so has to be good) but he takes ages and ages & since my car is, lie yours, my daily driver I cannot let it go for three montsh just for a bit of tarting up!

One question, notice you have a Magbra on the front. Is that a strip of black tape I see going up the center of the two halves that stick to the hood? Also, do you have any problem with the "headlight wings" flying off?

I have been running the Magbra on the track for 4 years 20-25 days/year with it never falling off rain or shine. The trick is to put it on a clean dry car before for you leave for the track. Also I spread is as wide as possible to get max coverage and run racers tape up the middle and on the leading edge of the truck. If you do not tape the open areas you will get lines of chips.

Jon, I am VERY happy with the addition of the Boxster "S"/996 "Twist" wheels. I was looking for something that would give the "updated" look for the street, I use 17" Cup IIs for the track...I would use those, but they just don't offer the "updated" look I was trying to achieve.

To answer your question about tire sizes, I use the Bridgestone RE-730, 215 front, 255 rear...you'll notice that the fronts are 10mm wider than the usual 205s - these tires are skinny as hell though! The 255s are more like 235s and the 215s are similar to 205s - weird. I'm glad I noticed that when I first ordered my 255s for the rear, I then knew that when I went to change the front tires...to get them wider!

MWILDT, to post a picture, you were half way there, once you get the url for your pic on Rennlist, copy and paste it into the "IMAGE" selection when you are replying, it's located on the "Instant UBB Code" menu below the text box...paste your url into there and when you "Add Reply" the picture will be displayed.

Also, MWILDT...as you may be able to tell yourself, the RUF front spoiler doesn't provide nearly as much downforce as the MA Shaw design, downforce and an OBVIOUS upgrade is what I was looking for - otherwise, I like the RUF spoiler.

David, thanks for the advice on the Magbra, as I said, just got it, so wanted to get some tips from a longtime user...that would be you! I also ordered some more racing tape, this time a black and a white roll, I'm going to put a strip of white across my beloved front spoiler and the black I had planned to use in conjunction with the Magbra - so looks like I had the right idea, you just reinforced it! Thanks again.

Thanks for the info, Jeff. I am running the same tires (Bridgestone RE-730's) but with 205/50ZR17 on the fronts and the 255/40ZR17 on rears. Currently I have the Mille Miglia 7.5-in front (55mm offset) and the 9-in rear (47mm offset). I have been thinking of upgrading to something else for the weight savings. The Mille Miglia are 22 lbs on the front and 23.5 lbs on the rear. Do you know what the Boxter S rims you have weigh?

Also, David- I noticed the 5th photo down you are running different rims in the front. Just wondering what you were doing there.

thanks
Jon
