What a coincidence- I own a 92 C2 and live in Houston.
As far as mechanics, depends on what you need. For suspension and performance work, Proteknik is the best place. Owner's name is Sam, and he specializes in race-prepping Porsches. For routine maintenance, Paul Kobe of Kobe Motors is excellent and reasonably priced. From what I've heard, those are the two best independent Porsche mechanics in town, although there may be others.
If you need a PPI, either Sam or Kobe should do a good job, although I would lean toward Kobe.
I take my car to Advantage Porsche (dealer located on I-10) b/c they have excellent service advisors (ask for Larry) and they provide a loaner car, which is very important for me. They cost a little more than Kobe, but the convenience is worth it to me.

Don McGill is the same as Advantage b/c Advantage recently bought out Don McGill and renamed the dealership. Do NOT use Momentum Porsche, which also is owned by Advantage.
