Tires for street/DE? Toyo RA-1???
I have a 964 C2 which is lowered and which I race. I have 18x10 265s/18x8.5 225s for racing (very tight fit-- use 1/4" inch spacers on the back) and 17x9/7.5s for the street. I was looking at a combination tire for street/DE events. I travel long distances to the tracks so I need something that can handle the rain. I wanted the Yokahama A032s (255/225) but they no longer make the 225s. I am worried about fitting the 235s on the front.
Does anyone have any comments on the Toyo RA-1s on wet streets?
Has anyone tried a 275/235 combination? How does it fit on a C2?
Thanks for comments.

Thanks Bill,
I would guess that means that I can use them to get to and from the track.

I know some PCA club racers around here that like to use the Toyo RA1 DOT-R tire as a rain tire.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Gavin,
You might want to try them out for DE also. They may not be the best dry race tire, but they may work just fine as a multipurpose, drive to the track, drive on the track, drive home tire.

I have RA1's on my spare set of rims which I use for autocross. I drive them to and from the events with no problems, and I'm pretty happy with their performance. I also like that most sizes come with 8/32 of tread, so they last longer, and they're not asymetical, meaning the tires can be reversed if the outside edges wear unevenly. I've never driven them in the rain though.

I've never tried Yokohamas, however I can tell you a kind of tyres which I DON'T consider adequate for rain driving. I've got KUMHO Ecsta on rear axle of my C4. They're cheap ($420 for a pair of 255/40 ZR17 ) and tough but watch out for tail madness even at low speed when it's wet.
They're OK if you use the Carrera as an everyday car for long motorway journeys because they last quite long.
