![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Just came back from a night drive, and noticed that the light behind the logo on the fog light switch is not working. Also, is there supposed to be a light behind the logos on the cigarette lighter and the headlight switches? Just never noticed before. Anyone tell me exactly how to replace bulbs there? Is it a hassel??

Horst,
My car (93 model year, German market) does not have either the cigar lighter or headlight ***** backlit.
However, the rear defroster, front and rear foglights (which you don't have on US cars) are backlit.
I have brought this up on another discussion board and everyone seemed to agreed that the first two are not backlit.
Regards

I agree with Riccardo. Mine are not back lit either. Porsche must have thought that you should put your lights on before it gets dark, therefore no need to have it back lit & also were pehaps attempting to stop people smoking!!

Dear Horst,
Which fog light switch, front or rear.
What happens when you actually pull the fog light out to activate it. When you turn the headlight on the bulb will glow dimly. When you pull the **** out it should glow at max. Are your fog light working. There is a tricky switch activated circuit inside the fog light switch that controls this.
My cigarette lighter has a light inside the holder. This causes a light ring to glow around the lighter when the head lights are turned on. People often remove this bulb or it breaks from its mount and falls down. I helped TS here in switzerland withexactly this problem. He had a loom hanging down with a light in it. It was the cigarette holder light.
The headlights switch is not illuminated nor are the surrounds,
Ciao,
Adrian

Dear Arthur,
Yes there is a bulb in there, because originally it was to be used. It is also part of the assembly and could not be removed.
It is not wired up, therefore the statement is "is not illuminated".
The reason it is not wired up, is, it gets too hot and can melt the plastic. I actually know someone who tried to wire this bulb up and it kept blowing the fuse.
Ciao,

Thanks- have 1/2 of my quest answered: Cigarette lighter and headlight switch not lighted. ok.
My main concern is the fog light switch. Fog lights function as they should (unfortunately, in US version, no rear fogs. I just went down to the garage, and turned key on, park lights on, and lo, the fog light switch glowed dimly; turned fog lights on, and the switch glowed brightly. Pushed foglight off, and no more dim light; pulled; no more bright glow; played with it a couple of times, and the glow, both dim and bright was sporadic. In all instances to front lights worked as they should. How is this switch made, where is the fault, and how big a deal is it to get it right?

Hello
The early 964 headlighswitch is a illuminatet version yet they left the bulb out as someone at Porsche didn´t liked it. The bulb will lite up when you turn the ignition key
I always was thinking it was used in the uS versions ( There you must even illminate the vanity mirrors
