Great thread!
My wife really likes the car and supported my decision to purchase it. Somehow she agreed it was a good 4-season car!
She misses not having a manual tranny car to drive for herself (Manual Cayenne too small for the whole family).
She will drive the 964 occasionally, loves the looks she gets in it - but doesn't like to run out to do errands in it. Hates stop and go traffic in it - for that she prefers my dads 996 C4S - lighter clutch...
Only thing I had to do was add a cup holder for her (water not coffee!).
Kids on the other hand love it (even in back seat). My son is now big enough to sit in the front seat and is even more CRAZY about the car since I started letting him shift gears for me!

It's funny, she was indifferent about the car (with a bias to liking it) until I started to talk about picking up a new Harley and selling the Pcar...now she seems to love it. How the heck did this 5+ year old thread come back to life anyway?

All I can say is be careful.
I had only 1 911 when I met my wife and she was not all that impressed. after 13 years of marriage and me prodding her to do some DE's she insisted cars are only for going to and from the mall.
After a year of AX she reluctantly did a Ladies day at Pocono. She came in after a few sessions with a smile from ear to ear. I have not had to make a reservation for a DE since some 10 years later. She loves them and cars although cleaning and maintenance is man's work.
Now she wants to review what pads and or tires we will be using and what changes to the car. Even worse she became involved with PCA and we have now been social chairs and she is the region secretary since 2007.
All I wanted was some track time.![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)
Actually I am quite lucky we can do this together and she has as much fun as I. The fact that she will climb behind the wheel of a 450hp race car that would terrify most drivers makes it even better.
Here she is getting ready to stage for her run session at WGI.

Hahahaha loving all of the comments in this thread!
My wife's reaction to me wanting a Porsche was very much like most of yours.
She has always tolerated my wrenching. Says it's better than me doing drugs or drinking or worse! Lesser of many evils. ;-)

It's a pain for my wife to even put gas in her car. 5,000 RPM in the 964 doesn't excite her, its scares her. Not a big car person, but she did just drive out-of-state to get the exact '16 VW Sportwagen she wanted, so even non-car people have a petrol side.
She has driven the 964 only twice in almost 9 years (truthfully, at 5'2" it doesn't fit her that well anyway). Once right after I got it, to show her how easy (normal) the car drove. Once more, years later when we went on a road trip up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The picture below was taken about 10 minutes into her drive, once she calmed down and settled into a groove it was all smiles (and a new level of appreciation).
The Porsche experience is all for me. She appreciates all I've done with the car (friends, trips, track, maintenance), and sees it as a hobby. The fact that car is worth more than I bought it for makes me look good.
