World's Record for Changing Headlights!!
Bought two pairs of Sylvania Silverstar 9004st bulbs. One set for the C2, the other for the Volvo 740 wagon. Took the outer metal ring off, the four screws, the bulb out. Decided to clean the inside the glass housing and the reflector. Makes a huge difference. Never noticed how hazy the inside was until one was clean. The new bulbs are really bright and white!!
Well, to make a long ordeal short, 1hr 45mns to install. Includes the time to wrestle the outer metal ring back on the left side, for some reason, would not go back on tightly. The ensuing incessant swearing when it slipped and put a two inch scratch along the stovepipe and the twenty minute search for one tiny rubber button which covers the headlight adjustment screws are included in the allotted time.
Needless to say , the Volvo took three minutes to swap out the bulbs.
Still rather drive the C2 anyday!!!!!

My only concern is that you cleaned out your globes and had them back together within an hour.
I usually let mine sit overnight, inside, so they are COMPLETELY dried out and it doesn't saturate/overwhelm the dessicant modules on the lower end of the globe.
Seriously, I'll bet your bulbs were fogged up like crazy the next day??
Not criticism, just advice from experience.
After you clean the globes, let them sit overnight, in a house with AC on would be preffered so the environment is low on humidity.
Otherwise, good job on the QUICK (F1 pit stop style) changeout!

Hello Sailswish, what watt Silverstar 9004 did
you use? Did you have to put in a relay?
Did you notice a brightness difference as the Silverstar bulbs are $25 each.
The weather is getting perfect for chasing my
light beam through the hills of Texas,Arkansas
and Louisiana. I always seem to out run them
in certain straight aways.

I'm glad to hear that you H5 guys have as much trouble as we who run H4's. The H4's on my SC have given me absolute hell. I've finally adjusted the screw tabs to where I can get the light to stick on the first try.
I might have had one of the worst experiences though. One day I hit a massive bump and the threads on the bottem screw let go. The whole head light assebly jumped out and beat on the side of my newly painted fender while it dangled by the wires. The then the wires turned loose. The trim ring sat in the middle of the road and the light flew off into someones yard. I watched about 3 cars drive over the trim ring. Fortunatly they didn't smash it. I had to refill the hole, drill and tap it. Consider yourself lucky.

I bought the Silverstars 9004st's from a vendor on Ebay. $25/pair!!. The difference in terms of brightness and whiteness is impressive. No additional relay was needed as far as I know. When cleaning the inside of the lens and the reflector, I just used a slightly dampened paper towel swished around with a chopstick and blew canned air to dry.
