Post White Smoke after Rebuild

Hi,

Finished 1st 2 stages of my 3 stage restoration project.

Paint/re-seal done and engine rebuild done. Now car's at upholstery shop.

However, after the engine rebuild I find a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust everytime I start up after a few hours in between. It clears within 3 seconds after starting and does not smoke again. If I turn the engine off and restart there is no smoke. But if I let it lie for a few hours and start it. There will be that cloud of somke. The amount of smoke is proportionate to how much time elapses in between starts.

What could be the problem? The following were changed at engine rebuild:

1) Reconditioned head with new valve guides but old valves (tested ok)

2) New Piston rings but old pistons and cylinders

3) Polished up crank, cams, rockers, etc

4) other changes were more mechanical like chains, head studs, gaskets, etc.

Please help. Have spent tons and did expect car to be near perfect

Maybe its condensation?

I have a 964 Turbo and the engine is different but my car acts similar. When I put my hand infront of the exahust I can actualy see the water droplets on my hands.

If it was an oil leak would the smoke be white?
