Post Engine Drop..heat shields removal?

Started the procedure. Studying the heat shields, particularly the lateral one at the rear of the engine. Do I have to remove the heater duct that runs laterally along the muffler to get these off?
It looks much simpler to drop than my previous models with the tunnel wide open.
Any seat of the pants advice out there?
I plan to try to drop the engine on to the dolly by lowering the car after everything except the engine mounts are disconnected.
Looking forward to tackling the annoying oil leaks, steering pump seals, chain cover gaskets and whatever else pops up.
Thanks for any comments.
