Post Noisy Brakes

Hello All,

I am new to Porsche ownership and noticed that the brakes can be quite noisy at times, loud squealing. They were just serviced by a local Porsche dealer. They have squealed before and after, the dealer says it is normal for the OEM brakes. Opinions?
Thanks

There are several things that you can do, all of which have been covered in previous posts. Try using the search feature with the keywords "brake squeal" and you'll get a lot of hits. Remember to search the "964" and "993" forums both.

If you can tell me more about the nature of the problem, that would be helpful.

It's intesting that the dealer would state that this is normal, since OEM pads are some of the quietest ones out there.

Yep, I should have searched first Topic seems well covered in the past. I had new rotors with pads up front and the backs are original. I will have to clean them up and see what happens. Will have to mention it to my dealer.

Thanks!

Guy,
Two things that can help you out.
1. Get rid of the anti-squeal gizzmo's.
2. Chamfer the front and rear edges of the pads.
