Routing CD multi-changer cable on C4
Hi,
I've finally got around to buying a multi-changer for my car and wonder whether anyone can tell me the best way to route the cable to the luggage compartment.
The car will be at the mechanics next week for it's new RUF suspension, and I was planning to let them sort it out while they had it anyway. But if I find time, I'd like to do it myself at the weekend. Is there an easy way to get the cable to the luggage compartment without drilling holes (which is what the stereo shop wanted to do)? There must be cables already routed to the luggage compartment so I guess all I have to do is find the hole they go through....?

Dave, I fitted one myself and after much investigation with a torch and some colourful language I managed to route the wire down the LH side (looking at front of car) of the heater/ventilation gubbins that sits at the bulkhead under the plastic cover.
I went under the dash on the passenger side footwell (LHD) with a torch and found a cable that ran through a grommet in the bulkhead into the front compartment.
I attached the 'new' cable to some wire and fed this through the existing hole after pushing out the grommet a little.
It was certainly fiddly, but it can be done without drilling additional holes.
Cheers and good luck <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Hi,
There's a rubber grommet on the right hand side (RHD) that feeds part of the wiring harness into the boot.
You can push the cable through but you may have to pull the grommet down, push the cable through and then refit the grommet afterwards. The space inside the cabin is pretty tight so use a small torch to find where the cable emerges, its behind a panel near the hood strut in the tiny gap, you will need small hands.
Good luck.

Hi,
I did this yesterday, and didn't find it too bad after all. For anyone else thinking of it - I found the grommet on the drivers side (RHD) the easiest to pull down so I could fit the cable through it. The other advantage to using the driver side - I pulled the speedo out so I could then prod the cable from behind as it emerged, and this made pulling it through the luggage compartment much easier.
There was an unexpected secondary benefit. After I'd finished, I was just about to push the speedo back in but realised I could still see light in the luggage compartment. My light switch has finally died, I pulled the bulb but if I hadn't fitted the multi-changer I wouldn't have known until I found a flat battery.
