CD-2 malfunction
Latest malfunction in my 50K mile 1990 Carrera 4 is in the CD-2 radio. The disk changer will not always accept a disk. Actually, it accepts the disk but more often than not spits it back out after a few moments. On one occasion, it refused to eject the disk until I reset the player.
Porsche no longer sells the CD-2 new or rebuilt. The one repair site I located says that they will no longer work on these units for lack of parts.
I have tried hard to keep the car 100% original. Does anyone know of a source for either repair of this radio or where I may buy a new one or a rebuilt used one?
Thanks as always.

Do you have a remote disk changer or are you referring to the built in CD? You could place a wanted ad on the PCA web site as well as Panorama if you're a PCA member, as well as other places. However, given that the unit can't be repaired, an alternative would be to upgrade to one of the newer Porsche units, which can be repaired, if needed. The Becker-manufactured CDR-210 has a single disk and fits the 964 opening. I posted recently about the parts needed to wire it in. The CDR-220 has a fold down face, which has to be down to insert a CD. It's the same size. Both are Porsche logo'd, and both can be repaired by Becker (Becker has a pretty good website too, including pdf's of the operator manuals).

Bill, thanks. I may have located a CD-2 (whihc is the built-in CD) as an exact replacement. Failing that, I have located a CDR-210 with conversion harness.
