Post Grill Badge Location??

I have always liked the old style grill badges that one saw on MGs and other sports cars from the UK. Directly after 9/11/01, I purchased a grill badge with the US Flag and currently have it mounted on my wife's BMW 330cic grill. It looks classy and I much prefer it to all those tacky US flag decals one sees pasted on the rear end and windows of cars.

I just ordered an American flag grill badge for the C2, but cannot decide where to mount it. I thought of attaching it below or above the front license plate as one option. Another option would be to mount the grill badge on, ah . . . . the rear grill.

Does anyone on the board have a grill badge on their pcar? If so, where do you have it mounted. Looking for ideas. Thanks in advance!

BTW, if anyone else is interested, this is the company I found that sells badges, in addition to German plates, etc. I have no connection - just a customer.

Ruairidh - - the quality is quite good. Ours has been on the car since the Fall of 2001 and it still looks brand new. No tarnish or rust - - both the chrome and enamel are still bright. According to the ad, they are made from brass and then plated and/or enameled.

So, where would you mount it?

I've seen a number of 356's with their badges there and, as one of the things I love about the 964 is the similarity in shape to the older Porsches, another connection to the past may appeal.

That said, if that didn't work, I don't have a Plan B!!!

I'm with Ruairidh. Mount it on the rear. Besides that's the only view most people get of our P-cars!

This has a plate frame which you can attach various badges.

Hey Sailswish - thanks for the tip. I just sent an email inquiring if the mounting bracket is available. It looks ideal. Be neat to have both the PCA and American flag badges.

I think you've been spending way too much time on the 992 board where some of the children find it hard to play nicely with each other.

As old Janie Austin once wrote "one half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other half" looks like we're in separate camps on this one.

Thanks, Ruairidh. You beat me to the reply. I fail to understand JohnF's point. Perhaps he could explicate for us?

Hey

I apologised in advance, just in case <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

But seriously, I am a firm believer in 'to each his own', and 'whatever floats your boat' etc etc
