Arrow 964 Flat nose Turbo S- factory option!

Here is a car I have never known about or read about- a $62K option to have an "X-85 flat nose option"! I consider myself to be farily well-versed in cars and Porsche's in particular, but I guess you learn something new everyday!

Check it out!

Forgive my ignorance, but what's so special about this car besides looking REALLY ugly?

For a unique turbo, wouldn't a DP35 (or something like that) be better?

If you are interested, I wrote an article about the flatnose 3.6 turbo in our Florida Crown's Klatsch.

If you are interested, the web address is:

http://www.pcafcr.org/klatsch/marapril2003/marapr2003.pdf

It is entitled "Porsche's Heritage". I think it starts on page 11.

It truely is a rare and special car.

Goes to show you. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think this car is absolutely gorgeous! The only thing that could be improved is the exhaust pipes- they look wimpy.

Porsche are not too proud to take cash in the special options "exclusive" department for whatever you want.

They proudly report painting cars to match the mistress's lipstick and building flatnose conversions. I'm not sure which is worse...?

Sorry Horst - I'm of the opinion the thing is pig ugly.

IMHO, The Flachbau is beautiful. I'd consider it a stylistic predecessor to the 993 C2/4S - wide sexy hips with a low front profile. Plus - you've got to love that rear fender air ducting.

But then again, perhaps you prefer the unique styling of the Pontiac Aztek.

I am almost afraid to tell you guys that I am the high bidder.....ParCars has two listed and there is another in Texas for sale

The HP and Torque are about the same as the 993 Twin Turbo....any of the C2 turbos from'91,'92 or '94 are great Porsches, but the "S" is the King of the Hill....and very rare

Greg- yes I checked out the site on this car- very interesting. I don't really like the styling, but then again I prefer a normal 911 turbo to the slant nose in the late 1980s 930s. This car looks odd to me, but it is a factory car, rare, collectible, and many people I'm sure find it quite attractive. Plus its built with the turbo S motor, so this thing must boogie!

A great car for someone interested in this sort of thing- the miles are so low, I'd almost feel guilty actually driving the thing!

Hope you get it Berkley! You have been searching for a long time my friend...

BTW I think this car was for sale for a while at Napleton with an asking price of 136000...

Have to agree with you Anthony, Jesus that car is hideous, and it's lost one of the most beautiful visual aspects of the 911 - those fantastic headlights.

Its not as ugly as the pop up headlight flat nose cars - they look like they fell out of the ugly tree, hitting every branch on the way down!!

This one just looks a bit squished at the front!

Okay, first of all, lemme admit that the Flatnose "S" is my all time favorite car...and if I hit the lottery, I would hunt down one with the 14K EPOXY paint option, the pearl white one.

Those cars are TOP DOG!!

Another thing, let's get the terms "flatnose" and "slantnose" straight...the older "Miami Vice" looking 911s were Slantnoses, the only FLATNOSE was the one in question, a 965 based supercar...and the "pop-up" headlights it uses is the 928 type that "pop" forward and have the bullet looking casings around the headlamp...also found on a 968.

There is a local guy here in VB that has one, it's incredibly gorgeous!! ...a very dark blue and I got a ride in it about 5 years go...MY GOD!!

Good luck, personally I kind of like the look of it.
