Question luggage compartment rust?

I've inspected my newly purchased ?93 C2 and discovered som corrosion
issues:

1. in the luggage compartment under the fuel tank on the driver side
(LHD) there is a V shaped part of the floor. In this I found rust
coloured dust and small flakes. I tried to remove all loose matter and
it seems like there is paint everywhere which would indicate that it is
not the floor metal rusting, but if it isn't then what is? It looks
almost like something leaked into the V and then dried up leaving the
dust behind. If anyone have experienced this or have any comments,
please share

2. On the white rings around the headlights (91163114100) there are paint chipped all
around the inner rim, and also the black rings behind the white have
some paint missing. Is it enough to better the paint or should it be
corrosion treated as well? It feels weird that the black paintwork is
damaged since it should be safe behind the white outer rings. Its
clearly not damaged from uncareful bulb changes etc. since it's an even
wear all around the head light.

posted this on 964smartgroup too, hence the deja vu.

Hi

Regarding #1, If the rubber vent tubes that fit into the holes in the floor have ever been lost/removed, then water can easily enter the trunk when it rains, this maybe the source of the moisture causing the rust. The plastic covered strip over the battery cables is a common source of rust - remove the plastic nut and check underneath. Also check around and under the battery tray , very common rust spot. If its just residue, then its probably not worth loosing too much sleep over.

Cheers

Ade
