What do people think of this as a wheel choice?

It is a 17x8 (47mm - 26 lb) and 17x9.5 (52mm - 27.5 lb) and while they are cast, they are not very expensive.

If they are 3 piece wheels, I'd look for another brand. Not that I know anything about that manufacturer, rather, cheap 3 piece wheels may not give you the service you might want. If they are 2 piece, then I wouldn't be as concerned. Weights seem on the heavy side, then again, weight and cost do have a relationship! While they may work just fine for street use, if you plan to take them on the track, do you know others who have used them successfully?

I think they look really nice Marc. I'd compare their weights to your current setup though. Be a shame to add too much unnecessary weight.

I would have to agree with Bill on inexpensive cast 3 piece wheels. A friend had a set of cast 5 spoke wheels and the center cracked and broke during a spin on the track due to the side loading that the relatively porus casting.

Hi,

They are a cast aluminum and one piece, not 2 or 3 piece. You're right, my current D90's are best for weight BUT I plan to use these as daily drivers, not track My plan would be next year when I can afford some sweet forged 3 piece rims, these would become my winter rims. That way I can upgrade to larger rotors (that require 17" rims) and larger calipers then get rid of the 16" D90's. Then I'd have 17" rims for both summer and winter and switching rims would not require swapping rotors or calipers.

I would also steer clear of it. For me the Cup 1's are still the all time favorite. Nicer even than the Cup 2's. But than again "De gustibus, coloribus et mulieribus non est diputandum"

Too fussy for me, would look ok without the pseudo bolts.....but as they stand too fussy.

Yeah, but my only problem with the "classic wheels" is that it seems like almost everyone has Cup 1's, Cup 2's, or Twists....too common (no offence intended to anyone's wheel choices ).

Nice looking wheels, but I'm gonna have to follow suit on this one. Those screws/rivots are really going to be a bitch to keep clean. If you are hard set on this choice, then I guess it'll be worth braking out the toothbrush and Q-tips to keep them clean.

My wheels are about 16 to 18lbs each.....and thats all I have to say about that

I think Christer's are 18's, too.

Marc, I'd encourage you to shop for secondhand wheels or takeoffs (wheels removed from a new p-car). Do a search in Ebay Motors using keywords like "Porsche 17 wheels." Many of the Factory rims are relatively light (993 cups run 19 and 21 lbs front and rear) and they can be had for less than a grand. You may also find reasonably-priced BBS, OZ and RH/Alurad wheels which seem to be a notch above other aftermarket manufacturers.
