Post Headlamp washer jets?

To operate do I push away from me right hand steering column 'stalk'? I ask as I've never used them until today, I don't think they work and drivers manual is at home!

I've heard that if they don't work it's a big job to fix?

Thanks in advance
Piers

Hi,
Yes - push the rh stalk away from you. BUT - make sure your lights are on, otherwise they definitely won't work.

Second that - the lights must be on, then push the stalk away. (Make sure you've got water in the intensive wash reservoir!!)

Not sure about the comment that you need water in the intense resevoire for the headlight washers.

On my 90 C2 (USA car), the pump for the headlights AND the main windscreen wash are on the tank under above the left side front wheel.

The intense washers work with a switch on the dash, and I think only hit the windscreen throuh a seperate feed to the windscreen jets.

Brian is correct. The intensive washer is a separate system except if you own a 964 RS of course.
The windshield and headlight washer pumps are both mounted on the main tank,

PS: Headlights must also be on. As already mentioned.

I had to laugh - I ran into the same thing! I never used the headlamp washers and wasn't sure if they even worked. I consulted the manual, turned on the headlamps and pushed the stalk forward. They worked all right - shot water all over my freshly washed car! Duh!

A word on caution on the intensive washer bottle. I went to check the fluid level and the cap twisted right of bottle with the threads still in it! My new washed bottle and cap should arrive at the parts counter tomorrow. Guess what I'll be doing Saturday morning!

Guys,
On the intensive washer bottle. Here is some expereince advice. Leave it empty. Use the pump assembly as a spare for the other 2. Do no tuse that silicon based fluid sold by Porsche. In winter ensure the tank is empty. If you own a C4 make sure the tank is empty. If fact I recommend if you own a C4 to disconnect the thing and leave it empty forever. Why?. If the tank overflows or leaks have a look what is underneath.

Especially if you use Zymol, Silicon kills this product in its tracks!

Silicon also kills catalytic converters, O2 sensors, seals, and a few other bits and pieces as well.
Makes a mess on the windshield anyway. It is worse after a Porsche intensive wash than before.
