how to remove a dash from a 911?
#3
If you don't get any serious answers, I can go over the procedure to remove the top part of my dash on my 993. It's probably pretty similar.
There are some tricky bits though.

Guys;
Here is the procedure. Remove the 5 phillip fastners from the metal defroster vent which is near the windshiled, now remove the metal vent. Next, gently pry off the plastic end cap located on each side of the dash. There will be a phillips fastner located under the cap, remove the fastner. Remove your clock, however please disconnect your battery if you have to unplug your clock harness, I didn't need to. Reach in the hole and to your right in the 3 o'clock position there will be a nut on a dash stud that needs to be removed. I think that its a 10mm.
Gently pull the dash toward yourself to clear the stud located near the clock, once clear you can lift up slowly. Done.....

Herbie;
I have removed my dash to check for the second stud. There is not one located on my dash, I do not remember having that 2nd stud on previous dash removals that I done. Do you have Airbags? There is no boss for the second stud and I looked behind the dash and there was no evidence of a fastner being there (indentations in metal).

Yes, my MY91 mounts 2 airbags; but now I'm not so sure about the 2nd nut. Sorry for the uncertainty.

To remove central vents, have to move small hooks just behind the grids
