Post service cost sweepstake!
Just had the bill through from JZM, any guesses on the total including VAT? (First prize to be decided):
Fit customer supplied rear calipers (4 pot) and pads.
Fit new front pads (MOT failure)
Fit brake sensors
Fit new steering gaitor
Supply MOT certificate
Check gearbox for tranny noise
Materials were 3.5 litres of gear box fluid plus 1 litre of brake fluid.

Christer, shouldn't be too much, its all on the cheaper end of work. You didn't mention if a service has been included.
My breakdown is as follows:
Fit customer supplied rear calipers (4 pot) and pads. --> £120
Fit new front pads (MOT failure) --> £100
Fit brake sensors --> £60
Fit new steering gaitor --> £40
Supply MOT certificate --> £35
Check gearbox for tranny noise --> £40
Materials were 3.5 litres of gear box fluid plus 1 litre of brake fluid. --> £60
Total around £450.
Whats the prize by the way?

My guess is:
Fit customer supplied rear calipers (4 pot) and pads. £80
Fit new front pads (MOT failure) £40 labour, £36 part
Fit brake sensors £40 labour, £30 parts (front & rear)
Fit new steering gaitor £80 labour, £25 parts
Supply MOT certificate - £35
Check gearbox for tranny noise - £40
Materials were 3.5 litres of gear box fluid plus 1 litre of brake fluid - consumables £40
My total guess - £446 + VAT (£505)

Just to put the minds of the hundreds of people thinking about this to rest:
£387.97
Which I didn't think was too bad. I was expecting around £300 - but they checked the gearbox over without asking as I asked them to check the noise from the transmission which I think is clutch related...
The noise for those who are interested (previous posts about this) has been attributed to the spigot bearing on the flywheel. Apparently it can get a little dry when the tranny is cold and thus it improves when warm.
I pointed out that this started after they fitted a new clutch in Feb. They actually told me that if it gets worse, they would work out some sort of compensation on the cost of getting it sorted as it involves taking the whole thing apart again. As I have no proof that their clutch install caused this (could have been coincidence I guess), I thought this was quite good of them.
Anyway, suspense over!
First prize I guess goes to Riccardo, John or Millzee depending on whether Riccardo included VAT - pretty good guesses! Either one of you can take home a 2nd hand used, split steering gaiter!
I am now going to have to get used to the 4 pot calipers on the rear. Allow for the reduction in braking power, that sort of thing....

sounds good to me, Andy where do you get you car serviced as £840 was well out.
they are very honest at jz at my last service they mentioned a few bits and bobs that needed doing, i checked there list against my car and they were right on all occasions (i generally don't trust garages as i have had some bad experinces in the past) and there was no pressure to do the work.
i need both my rear wheelbearings changing soon any guesses on what they will charge???

Millzee,
I just pulled a figure out of my head! I wasn't quite as scientific as the rest of you!
As we're talking servicing costs, how much should I expect for a flywheel & clutch job on my C4. I know up to £2000 is possible, but it would be good to see what others have paid for this to be done & where.

have a look on:
<a href="http://www.jzmachtech.com/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.jzmachtech.com/index.html</a>
they have some fixed price service items, a clutch is one of them but no idea about the flywheel.

Hi,
I haven't had it done - but GT-One told be to budget about £900 for the clutch. They said if I needed a flywheel it would be almost double that - probably about £1600.
