You know, it would be great if someone could do a compendium of the ads that Porsche has run over the years. Some of them are real keepers.....like the picture above.

I actually found the poster on ebay. Someone posted a link here on rennlist to an auction for the "kills bugs fast" 993 turbo ad, and the same guy was selling this poster. I put in a bid and won the auction.
I remember when the ad appeared in car magazines back in the 1980's (when I was a car-crazed teenager). I then noticed it recently hanging on the wall in the office of the head service tech at a local Porsche dealership (he wouldn't sell his copy).
I looked around for copies of the poster at various online poster sites, but no one had it. According to the guy that I bought the poster from, it was never sold to the general public -- the print ads appeared and posters were produced by Porsche's PR department and sent to Porsche dealers for display in showrooms. The quality of the poster supports his story -- it's printed on really high quality heavy paper stock and the imaging is perfect.
It's hanging in my office for now, but when I get a really nice garage, it'll go there.
I remember there being a thread a while back on the 993 or 993 turbo board about the various 993 turbo ads ("Your own personal amusement park" with an Arena Red 993 turbo in a tunnel, with the lights reflecting off the car's curves, was my favorite).

In the eighties, Porsche sent out a large poster of the picture in the ad and the license plate had your last name on it. Does anyone remember that? I wish I hadn't thrown mine out many years ago.

Bill - I'm surprised that Porsche doesn't start offering the old ads in poster form (either directly or through the PCA). There's obviously demand and it's otherwise dead intellectual property that isn't earning any money for the company.

Geoffrey; I still have mine, mounted and hanging in my garage; I was quite surprised when the big, blue mailer tube arrived and I opened it and there was this HUGE picture of this car, with my last name on it. Still have it. <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />
