Early 911/930 Look w/964
I'm considering doing an early look 911 or 930 w/the 964. You get all the latest goodies on the 964 but I like earlier styling, bumpers, etc. a bit better
Can you fit, or has anyone fit the 17" two piece 930 Fuchs (made by HRE I think) to a 964 or better yet, 17" Rufs?
I know the off-sets are a bit different in the rears, but what about the fronts.
I'd like to either do a 930 look or possibly go for the yellow bird narrow body look.
Thanks,

I like the '64 to '73 styling, but the '70's and '80's with the accordian bumpers and all the plastic were real eyesores IMHO. I will always think the 964 is the most perfect 911!! I want a 356 and an early 911 before I die but I'll avoid the 70's and 80's like the plague!
Peter - I agree..HOW 'bout a '73 RS???!!

I'm about to list a 1977 911 (full paint strip and painted red clear coat) with a full metal widebody C2 turbo look for sale. The engine and trans are being sold seperate but if an offer is right I could include them. The engine is a 1977 930 3.0 Euro turbo motor with later exhaust, K27 turbo and inner cooler. I bought the setup for this body and never installed or ran it yet. The tran has had complete overhaul bearings, seals, synchros and heavier side cover. If your interested I can give you a full list of everything thats been done and whats left to do and pics. Also includes 17" 993 turbo twist wheels that fit very nice in the wheel wheels.

I'm actually thinking of doing the wide body w/the duck tail.
The problem is coming up w/wheels that look right. That's why I want to know if anyone has run the 17 mentioned above.

There was an article in Porsche 911 world or maybe Excellence with a guy who did the 73 RS conversion w/a 964. Does anyone remember that?....I've got most of the Excellence, but no the Porsche 911 world.
Thanks

i think that article refers to mid 70's car not a 964 as far as i recall.
and i think that is one of the main problems doing the back date w/ the 964 is getting the wheels to look right.

There have been a few 70's cars in 911 World that have been upgraded with 964 and/or 993 engines, but I can't recall a 964 made to look like an older model. However, I think that PC2's idea of a 73 RS would be cool if you could get wheels that would fit. The futches have an offset that would make for a tricky fitment on a 964.

The October 1999 issue of Excellence had an article about a European 964 RS converted to resemble a 1973 Carrera RSR. Looked pretty neat. The conversion was built by Heinz and Franz Emmerling.

This question (can a 964 be given an earlier look - usually 73RS) has come up a number of times - you might want to do a search.
IIRC no-one here has done it, the body parts to make a convincing front don't seem to be available and, I haven't seen a custom job (I don't have that 1999 Excellence mag).
As for 964 with ducktails - try search again - there were at least two I recall a white one for sure and they did look cute.....
As for the Fuchs - you'll have to get the offset for the wheels you like and looksee here - I ain't seen any Fuchs for a pre-964 on a 964, 993 or Boxster so I doubt it but I could be wrong. IIRC there are some Fuchs look-alikes available in 964/993 offsets but I cannae remember where I saw them.
