I found that "Sudsy Ammonia", a glass cleaning product sold at most grocery and hardware stores did a great job on the inside of my lenses. I used a similar method toothers here: pour a bit in, swirl/shake it around, rinse out, repeat. For the last rinse I used distilled water and then compressed air to get the droplets off the glass. I'll have to try the hair drier suggestion next time.

Well I have the bulbs but need to clean the lenses, repaint my front splitters to white, find new used 4 pot calipers for the rear, put on the new brake lines and pads ........... In the meantime just driving it while its running so good
My excuse is its been to darn hot to do any of it.

Just bought Silverstars (yesterday) because of this thread...$30 for the set at Advance Auto Parts (on sale). One problem, my fog lights will still be yellow. FYI, fog lights were $21 EACH. I plan to use Adrian's book to remove lights/lenses for cleaning. Thanks for the help and suggestions everybody!

You got a better price than I did I paid $39.00 at Pep Boys.

What bulbs did you get for the fogs?

If you keep on eye on Ebay, one can find these bulbs at substantial savings. I bought a set for the C4 for $16 shipped. I just bought another pair (like them very much) for the wife's Jeep this week for $19 delivered.

I don't know where these guys buy them but it appears the auctions don't get closely followed. I went to buy a pair for the Jeep and saw that I'd spend $100 for the two sets it requires for separate hi/lo. I wouldn't pay more then $25 for a pair at this point as I've seen too many of these auctions won at $10-15 dollars for the pair.

Snowbird

Up here in Canada I purchased a set of Optilux Xenon 45/65W for my H5s (i.e. 9004 bulb) from Niagara Imports (i.e. no affiliation) which I'm not sure how they compare to the Silverstars but they were brighter than stock. What drew me to them is they have a lifetime warranty which I had to exercise in the 2nd year as one burnt out and they replaced with no question upon producing the receipt. I think I payed $45 or $65 Cdn. I was thinking of building a current source circuit which could be controlled from inside the car to supply more power to the standard bulb in order to get more light.

Aren't the NAPA brightlights the same as the silverstar? I think I remember reading this on another forum, and did buy the brightlights when my wife's old honda headlight went out (updated them both at that time). I think it may be the same exact bulb just different package/box. At the time they were cheaper than the silverstars, so I would imagine somewhere they still are cheaper ($10.99 each on the NAPA website, but maybe cheaper elsewhere)...

They were good (we since sold that car)- I should upgrade them for the 911...

Do you a dash mounted rheostat so you can turn the brightness up and down (by increasing or decreasing current)?

I think if you up the current or put in bulbs that draw more current you'll need to put in a relay and heavier wire. Over the winter I plan to swap my H5's for H4's and put in 80/100 bulbs but will install some high-power relays and heavier guage wire too.

Yeah that's one way which would require heavier wires, relays etc. But I was also thinking about a square wave between 0V and 12-20V at around 120Hz? Depending on the duty cycle it might elimnate the need for the heavier wires. Not sure what the light would look like?

Picked a 2 pack at Pep Boys in LA for $32.95 + tax. Used them on a H5 for 2 years + now. The cheapest upgrade on my C2 Cab.

You can usually get them for $15-20 on Evilbay including shipping. Finally got around to installing mine and was a big improvement. Some of it probably came from cleaning the inside of the lense.

Jim, did you also upgrade wiring and relay, like everyone suggests?
