Are you sure about that? When I checked on 10/21/2004, 911-511-010-30-GRV was available from Germany (they had plenty in stock) for $1950USD. Maybe I have the wrong part number for the aluminum RS front hood?

My PET shows that is the correct number for a Carrera RS hood.

Damn, now I have to go and buy one, just in case. It was better when I thought they were no longer available.

While not original, I got an email from Seine Systems this morning that they will be offering a carbon hood brace, similar to the RS brace in function, with no drilling or rivets needed. Around $40, as I recall. It's not on their website yet, and I discarded the email, however, if you send them a note they have some pictures that show how it works. (no affiliation)

That's cool, I guess they pressed up a batch of alloy hoods. Friends could not get them a couple of years ago.

You might want to verify that these are not the 993 AL hoods - from what i have heard and seen - these will be the soft crease 993 AL RS hoods. I recall that they combined the part numbers a while back since the fit is the same.

just a thought....they fit exactly the same and i do not believe they are drilled for the windshield washer nozzles as on the 993 Street version.

I have a 993 aluminum hood on my car, and it fts perfectly. Mine is off a 993 endurance racer and had the windshied waher holes (since welded shut).

"While not original, I got an email from Seine Systems this morning"

Hi Bill,
Not sure how to frame this answer w/o appearing too commercial. I haven't test-fitted one on a 964 yet, but they fit on 911s and 993s and are now available.

Although not "factory", it appears to be substantially less $$ than the factory RS kit and should require no drilling or cutting to install. I can also guarantee that it's lighter at <3.5 oz. More info here.
